It's hard to let go of wanting your mom to be different. All you can do is examine your own behavior to see if you are playing into this dynamic. Saying this because I would trust my mom and tell her stuff about my life and then at a key point she would turn around and use it against me. It was hard not to tell her stuff when things felt okay but I had to learn not to do it.

Tell me when CPS does anything regarding verbal abuse.

Stephanie Foo wrote a memoir about how she was beaten by her parents and then abandoned by them both. CPS did not do a thing.

How many abused kids have you fostered or adopted?
