So, they’d be able to feign innocence easily, never ever be caught off guard. Adding that to my thoughts, and your thoughts, it’s a no for me. If they want to use the cooler movie space that feels more like a theater, they can in a group.

This is sensible. I don’t know if you posted more about age, length of relationship, but if they’re watching a movie, it’s good to be in a family area. Everyone knows about Netflix and chill. They don’t have to be doing everything, but.. hand stuff can be an issue.

Your group idea is good for a basement, theater room night.

16. If I felt like I needed to be checking in several times then I just wouldn’t allow. At this age kids can go on dates somewhere outside the house so what’s the point.

16. We’ve had all of the discussions. They find a way to do what they want to do in that area.

This. By the time one of them is driving, then just know that they now have a private spot to do what they want to do. Most likely it won't be happening in the basement with the doors open and a parent directly upstairs. Now if a parent is not home, that's a different story.

Not unless both kids have had a mature conversation with their parents about sexual safety
