Subject: London/Amsterdam with teens?
Did 10 days in London and Amsterdam with my 17 year old son last August.
It was a great trip but I had a travel agent book all hotels, transportation and activities for us. It was about $15,000 for the two of us flying premium economy and Eurostar tickets from London to Amsterdam. That doesn’t include meals and a few tours but just about everything else.
Book Anne Frank house early. Sells out really fast and no chance of going if you miss it. Look up when tickets go on sale for your travel date.

Subject: London/Amsterdam with teens?
You may be put off by the Amsterdam Centraal/Red light area, just walk further from the train station and it's much chiller. That's only a small part of Amsterdam.

In winter, theatre is great. There are concerts at St. Psul's and St. Martin in the Fields.
Some of the smaller museums, like the Design Museum, the Postal Museum, the Dickens Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood are also fun.
There are light displays at Kew Gardens and Kenwood House Gardens.
In summer, the gardens are great. You can visit the London Wetlands Centre, a Victorian reservoir turned wildlife preserve. The Olympic Park is also beautiful. Daytrips to Darwins house and Churchill's house are also fun.
