This is very true. My nieces, ranging in age from 14 to 20, all asked for perfume for Christmas this year.

+1 There's a group of DCUMers who view everything as tacky - nail polish, perfume, designer bags, Cartier love bracelets - in their search for the ultimate WASP preppy old-money aesthetic.

I love perfume if done right (subtle and clean smelling).

Just don't wear it to work or places where people will be stuck next to you, like on an airplane or the theatre.

We have? can you please tell that to the crazy amount of people who smoke cigarettes and more recently, weed in public that we all have to smell? I can’t even walk into most stores without smelling weed which i’m incredibly sensitive to. So no, I don’t think people care about others the way you think they do. Perfume smells better than 2nd hand smoke.
