Ditto on the Dutch oven. It's such a versatile piece that can go on the stove or in the oven. Le Creuset if you can afford it, otherwise a similar looking piece from Amazon, Walmart or Target.

NP here. It sounds like a great theme for a gift to me. Bless your heart.

As someone who has a specific hobby and everyone thinks I need a gift related to that hobby - just no.

It does matter whether it’s something you use up in your hobby (here beans or spices) rather than a durable good (books or equipment)?

I buy my own kitchen tools, but if someone has come upon a fun ingredient, I’m all in

Stainless steel soup ladle and La creuset style Dutch oven. Costco has a dupe right now that is really lovely.

A set of soup spoons. If she makes Asian soups, a set of Chinese soup spoons as well.

I love to make soup.

Dutch over from Staub (l prefer over LC)
Big ladel
Nice spices that a soup maker will run through quickly - for me that’s bay leaves.
I grow my own thyme and rosemary outside - maybe an herb for the windowsill and they might transplant outside in spring.
Maldon salt (nice packaging)
Rectangular measuring spoons (fit easier into spice jars)

Gift certificate for good quality soup bones or good quality beef broth. Soup bones are really expensive these days. Nothing like scratch made beef base for something like french onion soup!
