Yes, you got your money back for the premium but you had your heart set on that specific room. The GM might give you a free night or a dining credit but don't expect anything more. If the GM just shrugs and says you got your money back you can always right a detailed review on Yelp, Trip Advisor etc. Get the GM's name and include it in the review. Don't make it scathing, just the facts.

When you arrived, you got the extra back, but it would have been too late to change plans. I would ask for a substantial refund, and if I didn't get it, small claims when I got back for whatever the limit in your jurisdiction is based on the bait and switch
Good luck with that...![]()
Yes, it is sad. But life is full of disappointments. The measure of a man (and woman) is your resilience in the face of these challenges. Will you be able to get back on your feet notwithstanding the slightly smaller room and slightly different view? That is a test of your greatness.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Six months ago when booking the hotel room for the trip we are currently on, we called the hotel directly and requested a specific room. We had stayed in it before and liked the configuration and specific view, and were willing to pay whatever we had to to be sure we booked that room. When we called they assured us they would reserve that room, and we paid $50 more a night to do so. We did have the room class request in our reservation.
When we arrived last night, the room wasn’t available and won’t be available. They refunded us our $50 a night, but now it’s just not the same. The room we have now isn’t as large and doesn’t have the exact same view. We travelled all this way, went the extra mile to assure we spoke to and confirmed with an actual person at the time of booking, and now we are disappointed. Before I go downstairs this morning and ask for some other type of compensation, I’m wondering what that would even look like?
Hun, don't go all Shane from White Lotus on the hotel staff. Please.
