You give the gift after the recommendation is written. It's hardly bribery. It's polite and accepted.

None of us need sugar. I wouldn’t be offended if someone gift me a fitness center pass.

NYC, which in my experience is tip heavier than DC;

Cleaner - $200/ about 1 cleaning’s worth
Daycare - will give the student teacher a $50 Amazon gift card as she is graduating/leaving. Otherwise, I wait until year end for individual cash gifts. Room parents haven’t taken a collection so not sure of their plan but would match whatever they may suggest.
Apartment building staff - contributed $300 to the pooled fund (thank god - most buildings do individual cash tips)
Building manager who has gone above and beyond for me this month - Harry and David gift basket as his cash tip was included in the pool

Legally, the mailman can only accept $20.

I try to remember to tip the garbage collectors. I also tip the newspaper deliver person.

Trash collectors $30 each because it is a very dangerous job and ours are awesome,

Our mail carrier is not wonderful so we don’t tip them.

Price of a full cleaning for cleaning lady - she is amazing
$50 to mailman.

Am i the only one who feels like giving money as tip, esp to professionals, feels a bit gauche? I would stomach a gift better

We just do trash, recycling, & letter carrier.

I don't get a bonus or tips so I'm not killing myself saving all year to pass it along to gainfully employed people.

I'm planning to give my dog walker $250 because he is awesome. He stays in our house when we are away. He is available on weekends to take our dogs on a several hour odyssey when we have a busy day of sports and other activities with our son. He is flexible on days when our schedule changes. in short, he is awesome and I'm not above buying his loyalty. I know I don't really need to do it but he deserves it.

Well deserved. I always buy loyalty if I can when it comes to my pets.

I also give $50 to an activity teacher for going above and beyond to help with an audition, but I don't normally tip activity teachers/coaches.
