Well, I can tell you that through repeated and diligent calls to the police by many on our block—almost all anonymous—the drug dealing and public drinking/drug use/public urination on our block eventually went away. It took persistence, but it worked. (I’m the previous poster from Shaw.)

Don't disclose to buyers.

Keep calling the police. FWIW we had a similar situation a number of years ago in Shaw and the police did show up eventually and take care of it. A guy living in his mom’s house dealing out of the backyard through a little slit in the fence. Also, not sure if you should disclose to your realtor as they may have some obligation to disclose once they know.

The problem with reporting it is that when you call the Police they send someone out based on priority and other calls pending.
So you call and say there’s a suspicious person next door who’s got people coming and going.
The dispatcher asks if it’s happening right now.. you say yes or no. If yes, Police drive by, they pull up, maybe sit for a few minutes, see nothing, drive away.
They’re not gonna go hanging on doors or breaking in based on a phone call.

Well it's a sad commentary on society if we cannot report criminal activity, out of fear. So the criminals run the place, and we just exist in their world?

We live in an upscale suburb, but in a small house on a street with small original houses (Cape Cod and ranch style) from the 1950's. There is a family who'd lived in one of the houses for 3 generations. The 20-something sons were under-achievers who were living with their mom, and started dealing drugs. I did not even realize it, but many neighbors caught on. They called the police on these 20-somethings. It helped to get law enforcement involved, and eventually the sons realized that they needed to get legitimate jobs and support themselves. Our street is 100x more peaceful with them gone. (And their mom is probably less stressed.) It made me realize how much of an impact a bad neighbor can have. Many people on our street were ready to move.
