Women are inherently lazy. Becoming married forces a man to be responsible for their lifestyle for the rest of their life.

Most married women playing on this forum are unhappy. And if we extrapolate to most women in this country marriage seems to be a loosing proposing for women. Yet so many women still dream of walking down the aisle. Why is that? Is it mostly for the legal, financial and medical benefits? Or is it an immense feeling of pride to be someone's else wife?

Who are you? Who feels 'immense pride' of being someone's wife?

I do. I love being my husband's wife and proud to call him my husband.

Your list of potential reasons is:

Legal
Financial
Medical
"An immense feeling of pride to be someone else's wife"

You seem limited in your imagination. Some of us actually are married because we love, and want to spend our futures with, the person we committed to live with. Could we get all that without benefit of marriage? Just by living together? Sure. But some of us want to make public vows, whether religious or secular, as part of that commitment. There are legal, financial and medical benefits in our society, for those who are married, but those should be secondary to wanting to seal a commitment with a true partner. -- Married 33 years and the marriage improves with age.

I have plenty of friends and a good social life but an actual partner would be nice. It would be cool to share a residence and expenses. I'd like to have more frequent sex than I do as a single person. And honestly, it would be nice to feel legitimized by all those people who think there must be something wrong with you if you hit a certain age without being married.

How old are you? I think you have just been unlucky as you seem like a truly nice woman

Your mistake, OP, is in thinking that a grossly broad statement like "most married women" are unhappy, extrapolated form what you read on DCUM. Come on. Don't you realize this is a self-selecting group posting here? This is all about anecdotes, not statistical evidence you can apply to the whole population of married women.

They want wedding, dress, party, pictures, social attention etc., not responsibilities or adjustments which come with a spouse, house and children.

Just speaking practically unless you are wealthy there is a whole lot of value in having a teammate.

I was a widow at 29, lots of things changed thereafter, and I’m now 37 and happily preparing to marry again without the desire to have children with him. I look forward to having that level of commitment in my life again.
