Another vote for driving in early am. BWI does not have an inside the airport hotel I think, and not anywhere great to have a nice dinner right by the airport as far as I know.

Where do you live that an Uber would not just be cheaper than a car rental/hotel/long term parking?

It’s really just like an extra 5-10 minutes. The shuttle is usually at our car before we ‘ve unloaded the suitcases and it’s less than a mile to the airport— actually easier in some ways than shlepping from the parking garage.

I still do the hourly garage for short trips but for longer trips with luggage I use park n fly.

We’re renting a car both directions from Fairfax County. I wish BWI would let you reserve like IAD and DCA. It’s so much easier. Staying a night in a hotel doesn’t save enough time versus coming from home. We’ll rent the night before and be loaded up and ready to go. We’ll get the bags while my husband gets the car on the return.

Agree. What does a hotel save you, an hour of time? Nothing wrong with getting a hotel the night before a flight, but I prefer my own bed.

Then reserve an Uber in advance. I guarantee it will be cheaper than a hotel room and parking for the duration of your trip.

We have had great luck at Parking Spot. Reserve in advance for cheaper rates as well as a guaranteed spot.

Also once about 10 years ago we rented a car in Fairfax, drove it up to the Budget at BWI and dropped it off--at that time it cost about 60$. Our return flight was into Dulles. Rental cars are more now, so not sure that would work, but then we just took the rental car shuttle to the airport. It was great.

Just reserve an Uber for the morning us. We recently did this and priced out long-term parking and it was so much cheaper to just get Ubers both ways, even the "Black" service.
