You want burst pipes? Are you really this stupid that you don't know lowering your house temp below 50-ish F can do that?

Come on. If OP had talked about lowering indoor temps to 60, it would be a fun experiment. But 38F?

You're a moron. And so is OP.

Better to have houses that are well insulated and are efficient to heat. Using geothermal for housing developments, radiant heat, heat pumps, solar, etc.

Instead just buy an Irish fisherman’s sweater (the real kind from Ireland) and a pair of good socks and wicked slippers from LL brand and a pair of their flannel lined jeans. That will get you 90% of the way there, it will be comfy, and no batteries. I also really like those wearable blankets.
The real problem is your nose and fingers — you have to keep it warm enough that those are still comfy. Wearing gloves indoors is a PITA.

If you are worried about the environment, get a heat pump and put solar panels on your roof. Problem solved.

I keep my house cold to save money and fuel, and yes I use heated clothing. They are not battery, they are usb so I use a power pack or plug in.

The batteries on these things give you 5 hours max, if even.

To make this work you'd have to spend all day rotating a stock of charging batteries.

Give it a go. Report back on your massive plumbing bill from all of your burst pipes. I’m sure replacing that is environmentally friendly.

Or better yet just go live in a tent. The planet will thank you.
