Now this pardon thing for 11 years is kind over the top to me - for the crimes he was convicted for fine, but anything not even charged yet for over decade seems excessive.
I want to blame the DNC for not making sure Biden would not run again but now I think they could not control a sitting president who is (basically) an arrogant ass.
So frustrating that it is like a comedy of errors that somehow seems to be getting worse when there literally is no election or major events to screw up.
I now think the Biden name should be banned from the Democratic Party for life.
Why aren’t you joyful? Your side won and we will have a clown show for the next three years.

The problem is Democrats haven't had an open primary since 2008. Even in 2008, the media stepped in and heavily favored Obama. Democrats can blame messaging all they like, but Democrats haven't had a real debate about issues in a generation. That's why they keep losing to a gross, grifting reality show host. Of course, to debate, Democrats would have to be willing to let their preferred classes (URMs, women, etc.) lose an argument. I don't think they're ready to go that far yet.
DP. 2016 was competitive. We all had PTSD from 2016 and didn’t want another ugly primary, but you’re probably right that not having one since then was not great.

The Dems need to realize that economic populism and social conservatism wins national elections. More Bernie and pre 2020 Elizabeth Warren, less focus on woke politics.
Also, people are naturally drawn to strong leaders; it’s not “stupidity,” it’s biology. We’re pack animals by nature. The most effete gorilla isn’t going to become leader of the troop. Less Chris Hayes, more Chris Cuomo. I know this offends the wonks on here, but it’s the truth.
But the Dems will continue to acknowledge these facts and continue to cater to the whims of UMC urbanites with postgraduate degrees. The problem is that these type of people make up a small fraction of the electorate.

Except Bernie's not a Democrat. Come to think of it, I blame him. He was the first successful candidate to rip the Democratic Party into two, and we've never recovered.

One lost election does not a train wreck make.
What makes it a train wreck is who's coming, but if this is a serious question I'll weigh in.
It might not be a popular answer among my fellow Democrats, but DEI. Not because I think it's wrong, but because it's misunderstood and easily manipulated into easy, hate-filled talking points. But also (this is where I'll duck for cover from my fellow Democrats) it went too far. It was in response to hateful rhetoric but in my opinion (just mine, not even two cents worth) it took it too far. It was a social experiment in terms of a civil rights movement that, in this point in time, wasn't accepted. Maybe later, maybe not. I wished it was toned down to allow for real conversation, but no real conversation was ever allowed to happen because people retreated to their extreme corners and stayed there because any compromise on either side felt like weakness.
So that's my take. I think we as a country aren't able to do DEI correctly. I see it as microcosms in well-intentioned businesses and departments, but utterly failed execution of DEI. So we need to regroup and accept that we aren't there. We need to take baby steps and not beat people over the heads with it.
If we don't learn from this, and how to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in a very organic, real way, THAT will be the train wreck. It's not a department. It's not a training to check off your annual training list. IMHO.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about OP. Biden took office during a pandemic. He passed an infrastructure bill and the chips act. He got a soft landing on the economy. Travel is at an all time high for Americans. Biden did an amazing job and set everything up for Trump to ruin.

It really is a toss up. DNC lost 2 out of 3 elections to Trump. And Trump was actually a more compromised candidate in 2024 than 2016.
I do not think Americans wanted Trump more in 2024; a perfect storm of a feeble and delusional self righteous president and a party that cannot manage anything led to where we are today.
