And child would have arrived back to closed dorms!
I mean sometimes it’s just not possible.

It never occurred to me that dorms would be closed. What happens to kids that have no family? Or who can't travel (or don't want to travel home).

Reason why kids should stay in-state or within driving distance

Does anyone know what happens to hotel shuttles in these situations? I assume their schedule (ie: picking up every 30 minutes or whatever) is shot to hell?

Was just going to post this. It's the best. It goes to Terminal 2, but if traffic is this bad, it'll still be quicker to drop off there and walk to Terminal 1.

Pleasant and fast are definitely not how I would describe Metro. Ever

You are spooked/entitled. It is a great convenience, that most American cities don’t have.

Having “staff” to “direct traffic” is not going to solve the issue. It’s just too many people for the traffic pattern. This is where my DH’s city driving skills comes in handy. He is able to weave in and out of places you don’t think the car will fit, and he sees paths in and out that I just can’t see. It’s a site to behold.

Hey just be glad it didn't burn the occupant up.

There is a max number of cars that can enter the DCA roads because of the structure of it- will always be exceeded at peak of peak times. Dulles is the same way.

Right, but as someone who’s lived here for over 30 years, it’s never been this bad. There is a one mile back up. That’s unusual.

The news has ben warning for weeks that this weekend was going to break all-time TSA screening records.

Security was not the issue. Not having staff directing traffic outside the airport was the issue. People were dropping off three rows away from the curb and very few traffic police out.

I didn’t say security was the issue. The issue was that a record breaking number of people were traveling. That means a record breaking number of cars was trying to pull up to the airport.

And to PP’s, we live nowhere near a Metro stop. By the time I drive and park at a Metro, I could be 3/4 of the way to the airport. It would make zero sense for us to Metro to the airport.

Exactly. It's the only airport in the region we metro to.
