The blinker loses meaning when you pull ahead of where you want to go.
I'd bet that driver was a Maryland driver, due to their inability to use a blinker properly. And of course, the backing in idiocy.

How close were you? Was the car in front worried about backing into you? If you had waited longer, at some point he would have reversed and moved toward backing in. So I bet you didn’t wait as long as you thought before you pulled in.
