ED numbers are both are very slanted because of the large % of athletes.

This is true at our private. Only kids that get in are athletes.

If you check the Naviance GPA/SAT scattergram you should get a good indication.

In our school, 3.75 gpa is sufficient for Bowdoin, but not for Williams. For Bowdoin, it's on par with T20, whereas Williams is on par with T10.

The issue is Bowdoin or Williams are small schools. If too many applicants from your school desire Bowdoin, then you may not get in. So, work with your school counselor for the best outcome.

That’s my kid’s GPA and our college counselor said both of schools are a real longshot for her. She’s an athlete, but that’s not going to help much at those schools unless you are good enough to be a freshman year starter. The coaches can’t support that many athletes, and you can’t be very far off average standards unless there is some special circumstance.

plenty of top high schools in the country have no kids with 4.0. it's a different scale. no inflation, no weighting, etc.

+1. I just googled it. The average GPA at Williams going in is a 3.9 on an unweighted scale. On a weighted scale the bottom 25th percentile is a 4.20.

Our Naviance says Bowdoin is a no, with some exceptions that I'd wage money are athletes.

Williams also a no, but I think they care more about LOR than Bowdoin does
