Your primary car a 2016 is actually very old when you consider the 2015 models are out.

The 2025 Chevy Equinox is very affordable and they have the electric model with tax credits. If you buy a 2025 it will be nine years newer your 2016 and have warranty.

I dont think long term worth it to buy used.

Second car is a Ford Escape. They are plentiful because they have been made for decades so easy to get one on a deal. Basically a small truck with a lot of durability.

Our last one ran for 220,000 miles without issue.

We bought a slightly older one... a 2006... with only 80,000 miles on it for $4k last year.

As kids get older it is helpful to have one large car for car pools, road trips, moving back and forth to college.
