In London we have booked several nights at the Royal Horseguards at about $435 per night for a deluxe king room (might get that down -- I paid the higher price to be able to cancel, and I might cancel and rebook paying the less expensive pre-pay price closer to the trip date).
We booked two nights at Thornbury Castle in a superior deluxe room, which I think is going to be amazing. Also about $430 per night. Includes breakfast. I think their restaurant has a Michelin star. And Henry VIII stayed here with Anne Boleyn.
Two nights at The White Swan in Stratford Upon Avon in a "character room" (one of the rooms in the older part of the place), at about $325 per night.
Then two more nights in London. Haven't made that resy yet, but probably staying at The Rookery at about $400 per night.
So I'm managing to feed my desire for history at less than $500 a night.
OP here. Let me change this, lol. Those prices were in pounds of course. Not sure why I forgot to convert.
So Horseguards and Thornbury are more like just under $600 per night. The swan is about $450. So. It's ok. Still under $600 a night. Happy with that.
