That is the MIDDLE class commute that the DCUM MIDDLE class endures.

Lol, I was wondering why TF everyone is complaining about RTO since apparently all of DCUM is less than 30 minutes from their office.

30 minutes each way, max. My current commute is 15-20 minutes in the morning, 30 in the evening.

My longest commute was 45-50 minutes each way and thankfully that was only for two years. I don't think I could go back to that. I think my limit these days would be 30 minutes, although I am lucky enough to work from home.

On top of commuting time it used to take me about 30 minutes to do my hair, makeup, pick out an outfit and accessories. WFH this takes about 5-10 minutes.

30 min max.
Current commute is less than 15 min on a good day, closer to 30 if traffic is really bad.

I commuted one hour 15 minutes each way to work from 2000-2016 and I missed it when it ended. Was my quiet time.

Mine is between 50 to an hour on the way home and it is pretty maddening. The weeks I go in 4-5 days I have no energy for anything else.

This is a very important thread because longer commutes sap mental energy as well as physical energy . . . and people have a finite amount of energy to give to whatever they are doing during the day. So a commute is a totally unproductive energy sap . . . taking away from either work or home life (or most likely both). It lowers our standard of living.

I agree. 50 minutes is the outside of tolerable. My current commute is 35 minutes and I'm not a fan, but I've done the longer commute and it almost broke me.

My commute is 50 min door to door, with 35 min on metro. It’s at the upper end of tolerable. I wouldn’t want longer than this.

What’s funny is that I’m outside the beltway, and when I lived inside DC, it would take me 35 min door to door because much more walking, so commute “felt” long even though my current one is objectively longer

If I have to drive more than 10 minutes, I'm out. I do not dare take pub transpo in the US.

I walk/bus/metro to work in DC and it takes me 50-60 minutes, and it's not bad because I can spend most of that time reading. I'd be miserable with an hour commute by car. I'll never live farther out than arlington again, because I have, and the commute sucked.
