Yes, the movie covers only Act I of the musical, even though it's as long as the whole musical. You have to wait a year to see Act II.

+1 hard to sit through without having to go pee.

Have you never been to a broadway show either ?
Would never wait for Netflix or streaming for this kind of movie. So much better in a huge theater. And I love the energy of watching with a live audience (although I hope no one sings along either).
I am sure they will so special screenings for singing a long and that’s fine for people who love that stuff too.

Yeah, I admit that's part of my hesitation. I might wait and see it on a weekday when it's died down a bit.

I’ve got tickets to go with my tween DD Thanksgiving day….. $40 for the both of us incl fees/service charge.
Spouse goes to work at 4pm so we’re gonna go do that.
The prices are why we hardly go anymore. This is one I want to see on the big screen though.

I had today off work and went to a morning show. Not very crowded and, happily, no one sang along. Very enjoyable, even though I’m not an Ariana Grande fan and it could have been at least a half hour shorter. The friend I went with was more enthusiastic than me.

I agree that the merchandising is ridiculous. In addition to a zillion previews (at least half are for kids movies) there was an ad for Wicked Legos and that ubiquitous Target one with Cynthia Erivo.

I'm extremely skeptical but the good reviews and good buzz from friends make me think I might see it next week during the break. 15 year old me was completely obsessed with the stage show.

No. I’m really turned off by all of the ads and promotions.

Loved the musical but hate all the marketing and merchandise around this. Also don’t want to see a 2.5+ hour movie that is part 1 of the story!

I am excited though I can't stand the two leads either.

I take it you haven’t seen the musical.

No, I haven't.

So maybe don’t come on with uneducated takes.

I was obsessed with the musical and the movie looks to be really impressive, but all of the promo for has kind of exhausted me with it already. Not sure I'm willing to battle the crowds this weekend or that I want to see it in the theater at all (I have a short attention span for movies) - might wait for Christmas break or watch it at home when I can take breaks. I also think Ariana looks creepy (there's another thread on this).
