Thank you all the suggestions. I called her Ped gynecologist and they are going to consider changing the type of pill.

Is this a new protocol? I had this problem, and they put me on progesterone only (35 years ago).

Just wanted to chime in to say that I had this issue as an adult and ended up with an IUD which was the only thing that fixed my never-ending period issues. Could be traumatizing for a 12 year old to get one but it may help.

Can they consider switching her to other pills? If that low dose pill has a ton of progesterone could be part of the cause of the weight gain.

Our health care system loves addressing symptoms instead of looking at the body and environment as a system. It’s a shame.

PP with the DD with the bleeding disorder. This is what we did. For a young teen, they may do a quick sedated placement. That what we did.

um - she's 12 and she certainly isn't pregnant. they've done multiple ultrasounds. no mass.

The dr ordered extensive bloodwork to see if she had clotting disorder or Von Willebrand Disease. Thankfully she doesn’t. Her iron was still low so she’s on a supplement (rx) for that

At this time she’s skipping the inactive pills and not getting her period at all.

She’s a little over 5’

How tall is she and did she grow?

These details matter because if she started at 5'2'' and is now 5'5'' and went from 95 to 135, that's within the realm of a girl-to-woman- transition which can happen fast.

If she's been 5'3'' the whole time and went from 110 to 150, I agree, the current solution needs to be looked at for alternatives.

Yeah that's really rapid weight gain, particularly on a 12 year old's frame. They need to check her blood work and really take this seriously.

Birth control is a fix * not a fox

To the past two posters’ point - BC is a fox that is often just masking the real problem. OP I know it’s so overwhelming but I think you can give your daughter a real gift by being aggressive here and not settling for just “let’s see what happens.” Our medical system makes it really hard to approach problems like this. Every provider has like 10 mins and they give you a quick answer. So I know how difficult it is but I would really push here.
