Another vote for Costco for the exam as well as for glasses and contacts. Even though Costco is out-of-network for my work's vision insurance, I still come out way ahead versus the crazy pricing for in-network. I am shopping for contact lenses again right now, and Costco is the cheapest, though so many sites have teaser prices that make them pop up with prices that look cheaper until you actually checkout.

This. I usually check all the usual (Costco, Target, Vision Direct, 1800Contacts, etc.) and go with the cheapest at the time. For 3 of us, it's usually Costco, but spouse has toric lenses and they are usually less expensive elsewhere

For glasses, Zenni, 39.99glasses.com (really), and more and others - again, I look at the time when I need glasses, won't spend more than $50

Costco has great prices on glasses and they have designer glasses too - Gucci for $200, Jimmy Choo for $160, some Tom Ford, Longchamp, Burberry. Lenses are additional $85ish but this is all much cheaper than other places for similar glasses.

There's a Warby Parker in Bethesda Row too so no need to order online. I prefer Costco's quality though.
