I just looked at the record from last year at my kid’s private school in DMV:

4 EA acceptances with GPA 97-98 (out of 100) and SAT scores of 1530-1570.
2 EA acceptances with GPA of 94-95 and TO
1 RD acceptance with GPA of 94 and 1550 SAT

Only 1 or 2 of these kids ended up going to UVA.

They stopped with any URM preference last year because of the SC.

Not necessarily. The Naviance scattergram for my DC’s school indicates that it’s possible. The graph doesn’t indicate whether SAT scores shown were actually submitted to schools.


I will add that most students only report scores if they are very high. As DeanJ has stated, test scores are only a part of the overall picture. Course rigor and grades are most important as well as EC’s to show a student is involved.

This is a tough question for locals b/c the NoVa stats will vary by school. Your kid’s peers are their competition. It’s much better to get school specific data than ask broadly. And imo when Dean J speaks, she’s speaking broadly.

75th percentile 1529 SAT/35 ACT/4.5 gpa
median. 1479 SAT/33/4.4
25th percentile 1410/30/4.2


what year is this for? per to or during to?
