Do those kids consider Georgetown much? I would think most of this is that JHU is too close and Baltimore doesn’t feel like much of a new college experience vs some verdict on the school.

Sorry a troll ruined your thread op. Yield is 49 percent , comparable to USC, Rice and NYU.

I can’t get over that DEI email blasting white Christian males. Yes- it was not the undergrad school, but it was the pervasive attitude recently. It was a very ugly email.

Friend of family has a junior there. Constant grind - she is never not doing schoolwork. That said, she says it is incredible and is glad she chose it for pre-med.

I have never heard students from our top DC private interested in applying to Hopkins. Lots of schools mentioned but never Hopkins. I think the undergraduate vibe puts a lot of students off. I would guess their yield is low compared to other top 25 schools.

My DS wanted to go there. After talking to students that were there, he decided to go a different route. Now a sophomore and is so glad he chose a different school.

I was an IR major there, decades ago so I know things have changed although when I was back on campus recently I was pretty amazed at all updates and upgrades. I had a good experience there, it’s not a big “school spirit” school obviously, but I had plenty of time for a social life and actually really appreciated Baltimore. Critique I’d have ( for me anyway) is that it had a very pre-professional vibe. My dd is at a more intellectual /creative school and I can see the difference from my experience. Still, the social science kids at Hopkins are fine and have plenty of time for life outside of class work

My spouse went there and didn’t think our kid should go there. Kid was accepted RD, but chose a different T15.

I'm an alum married to any alum and my impression is that it university culture has chilled out a lot over the past decade. It's now a very diverse school due to more holistic admissions and far less of a gunner place.

I wouldn't take the opinion of anyone who is not a current student or parent seriously (I think there are a few current parents in this post). It truly has changed quite a bit in recent years.

Yea, the fraternities and sororities at Hopkins function exactly the same as they do at every other school. Upperclassmen also go out to bars, again just like college kids everywhere. Certainly, there are kids who spend all four years in the library, but you will also find that at many other top colleges.

My husband works there and doesn’t think our kids should go there. It’s like how Chicago used to be: great for grad school, an unhappy grind for undergrads.
