I wouldn’t do it. I have had it and it’s a pain to keep clean.

It's super hard to clean, if you are the one cleaning all those grout lines.

We have it on our shower floor, and I hate it. There is so much grout! It's impossible to keep clean.

That's really cute but tiny size tiles and expensive!
You will need to match your white subway possibly to the white in this mosaic. It looks somewhat grayish in the picture. Get the sample and see if you can match it with what's out there.
However if you're going colorful on the floor why not take the yellow or another color and do that subway? Would be really cute in kids bath.

Would you do a basic white subway tile for the walls?

I am currently planning a bathroom renovation and want to point you to this tile you might like. It's slightly larger than penny tile.
I also recommend not using white grout.

Does penny tile for a backplash generally hold up ok? Easy to maintain/clean?

Installed it in our basement half-bath. Easy to install, comes in 12x12 sheets. Ours is a blue/yellow/sage combo, with dark, charcoal colored grout.
