Is extra salt a strange request or do they hear it often?

Yes, it’s very strange.

I’m 50. BP is 90/60. Always using extra salt. People really are different. I am also not in super awesome shape or anything.

You are eating it, not me. Most fries are already pretty salty. Asking for more is kinda gross. If you keep eating so salty, all your other food will require more salt too.

Not a big deal if you are young, but all that salt is bad for you. Your life, not mine.

Ask for the salt.

Jesus, what's your blood pressure?!

On the flipside, if you don't get enough salt, then intracellular pressure exceeds intercellular pressure and you bleed out similar to a hemorrhagic fever. Usually heart attacks occur before that happens though. Quite common among athletes and in hot environments.

Why the heck don’t you ask for it?

Are you seriously going to make this decision based upon whether the server will think less of you?

Good God, get therapy.

Former restaurant cook here--in a super fine dining restaurant you might not find salt and pepper on the tables because the idea is that the chef has figured out the optimal level of seasoning. For something ordinary life fries ask away.

Nobody cares. Nobody in the service industry will blink an eye. It's not weird. Even if you asked for a side of mayo or ranch dressing they wouldn't care. You're getting fries - they're obviously not going to think you care about your health.

I often want salt in restaurants, and it's often not on the tables. Salt shakers disappeared during covid and never came back at a lot of places. I never ask for it, but always want it.

French fries are about the only thing I ever put salt on but only after I’ve tasted them. I’m always amazed that people dump salt on food before they tasted it because it could already be salted and salty.

FFS, some people need extra salt for their health. Not every body is your body.
