The sex is fairly graphic and it definitely shows the "seedy underworld" of sex work. So... depends on your teen and you.

Yes, that did go on too long. But I really, really liked this movie, and I can't figure our why. Maybe because it did what a movie should do - immerse you into another world, with people you'll never meet. It would get my best picture vote (for an admittedly weak year for movies).

Yes, that did go on too long. But I really, really liked this movie, and I can't figure our why. Maybe because it did what a movie should do - immerse you into another world, with people you'll never meet. It would get my best picture vote (for an admittedly weak year for movies).

I am an immigrant from that pet of the world and it was surprising to see a movie about someone like my son- he has the heritage but doesn’t speak the language much (though he understands, just like Anora) and chose to go by an American name for a while before switching back to his (ethnic) name.
What cracked me up was the facial expression of Yura who was trapped under Anora restraining her, and that scene where the older Armenian guy goes on a rant how today’s generation of young people have no work ethic and only think about TikTok (to a group of Armenian youngsters).
I didn’t quite like the main character casting, but I can live with it. The young actor who played Vanya looks promising.

I feel like Mikey Madison is getting nominations and awards largely for her bravery in exposing herself in the role. Lots of skin on display. But the performance wasn’t that nuanced and the director seemed unsure whether he was directing a comedy or a gritty realist drama.

For my money the best performance of the year was Fernanda Torres in “I’m Still Here” but not sure how many saw the film.
