I thought it was meaningful that Anora changed her mind about the thuggish guy because he showed her kindness (gave her back her ring at risk to himself). And he had also said before to his superiors that she was owed an apology, though she didn’t get one.
And then, the only way she knows to show him kindness back is through sex, but he doesn’t want that, he wants intimacy. And that — at this time — is too much for her. She can’t actually kiss him or look him in the eyes, which is why she starts crying. I thought that was sensitively observed and very well done, and was sort of an emotional payoff for all the sex that had come before.
Great summary and I agree.

This tomorrow. Literally never heard of it until tonight. Sounds like it’s not at all appropriate for this age group?
The sex is fairly graphic and it definitely shows the "seedy underworld" of sex work. So... depends on your teen and you.

I agree the scenes were way too long, especially the one in the house with Anora and the thugs.
Yes, that did go on too long. But I really, really liked this movie, and I can't figure our why. Maybe because it did what a movie should do - immerse you into another world, with people you'll never meet. It would get my best picture vote (for an admittedly weak year for movies).
