Hmm, I think avoidants actually do want relationships. They just don't know how to be in them. It's a kind of inadvertent self-sabotage.

But most of us are not extremes and vary between anxious, avoidant and secure based on the relationship and life circumstances. I’ve been anxious, avoidant and secure in the same relationship!


Yes, but clearly the people labeled anxious or avoidant are extremes and are difficult to deal with. They also attract each other and so this relationship type exists more than anxious-anxious or avoidant-avoidant. Having been in an anxious-avoidant relationship I would never recommend.
