Yes. I never thought this was possible because when I am in love it's all consuming and intense. But then it happened to me.

I’m not the PP you replied to but I have experienced this exact scenario and we never found our way back to love either. Betrayal for me was how he lied to me many times when I asked (and had proof) before he came clean. I can’t get over how easily he lied to me. The love and trust for me never came back. We tried for years.

Yes, my AP both love our spouses, but we love each other too.

Can you ? Yes. Should you? No.

I believe it is possible to love a spouse and have love for another person. It’s not always so black and white.

Yes, definitely. This happens all the time. Also, sometimes people cheat physically with people they love and adore. Most people don't do this but it happens. Sometimes it happens due to boredom or depression. Sometimes it happens due to low self esteem. Sometimes is happens due to a build up of resentment rather than the absence of love. Sometimes it happens due to fear or being dumped by the person the cheater loves most in the world. I know two women who did this, and it became a self fulfilling prophecy both times; in one case the cheated on guy found out and in the other the cheated on guy became so suspicious that the couple had to split.

But I'm not sure that's what you're really asking, OP. To me, the question isn't whether your spouse can love more than one person. The question is whether you should be with a person who loves you but chooses to engage in a relationship with someone else and then to lie to you about it. For me, that would be a hard no.
