Growing up, we had an elderly neighbor from The Old Country who made Pizelles so delicate and delicious that I could weep. Italian cookies ARE good, but you need to make them at home. Preferably under the supervision of an Italian grandma.

My other homemade favorite is pignoli.

Disagree. Go to pastries by Randolph instead.

This. Much better.

Cookies are one area America totally dominated the rest of the world.

Real homemade Italian cookies are amazing and full of unique flavors. And in Italy, they are off the charts delicious. Most Italians know what they should taste like, but if the non-Italians on this board have only ever eaten the dry shells of Italian cookies that are found in Italian-American bakeries, then I don’t blame them for not being crazy about them.
