In my family we do actually eat the green salad. It’s green leaf lettuce, citrus sections (usually grapefruit), red onion, pomegranate seeds, and vinaigrette.

I make the pioneer woman Mac and cheese recipe without dry mustard I’m not a fan of her recipes in general but this one is really good.

We add thin apple slices and celery. Everyone likes something fresh and crisp to balance the richness of the rest of the menu, and this works better than a green salad.

I used to do a dressing with hot sausage and pecans my mom always served but no one left to love it except me.

Grilled asparagus and broccoli

We do a simple pear/apple tart with puff pastry for breakfast.

Yes the corn pudding is so delicious!

We like to have a charcuterie plate for lunch. A few nice meats that we splurge on like really nice prosciutto. Cheeses, cornichons, sliced cucumbers, nuts, olives, things like that. I include some brie and fig jam we get a good balance of savory and sweet.

Over the long weekend we make homemade Chex mix.

For a twist on the usual dessert we love pumpkin cheesecake.

Can you share your baked ziti recipe? I’m looking ahead to Christmas Eve.

Mac and cheese is traditional in our family. I also like to do some sort of roasted vegetable.

My least favorite item is mashed potatoes but some family members like them, so I make them. But if nobody liked them, I would swap for scalloped potatoes.

A few years ago I started making a pan roasted root vegetable dish. Drizzle a cider vinaigrette over it. Fabulous.
