Same. Thanks for starting this thread, OP. My minimalist 12yo DD just shrugs when I ask her what she wants. Her little sister is full of ideas
It’s not that they’re minimalists, they’re in a new phase of life too. Toys aren’t interesting anymore but they are still too young to know what their interests, styles, preferences are in the world beyond toys. It’s a tough phase to buy for, but as they mature and develop their real interests it does get easier.
