Not the op. I've done Airbnb in Brooklyn a few times but that's not in a neighborhood I'd choose to stay in. I guess ymmv.

That's why I asked, what I am finding now is what you mention. Not open to NJ or not Manhattan as I want teens (all older) to have easy access to everything and be autonomous.
