Or to temporarily hide people whose posts make them feel sad or less-than or irritated.

I did this myself (curated my social media feeds), and it’s been wonderful. I now enjoy the benefits (connection with people whose posts brighten my day) without the negatives.

It’s also helped me be more tuned in to exactly what on social media brings me down. When I notice someone is generating too many feelings of ugh (or eye rolls), I’ll hide them. Maybe your college student could do the same for a bit? Great way to remind ourselves we have agency when it comes to social media.

I agree, Thanksgiving is a good turning point for many. It took me til after the Winter break when I got back in January. I finally started to feel like I belonged there and met some new people (and moved away from the first semester people).
