Applications don’t go under review until all materials are received so you’re all set. Just need to wait.

Also, should they decide to call (I agree they shouldn't) OP needs to have their kid call. AOs will note if a parent calls in. They don't want helicopter moms and students who can't make a simple inquiry call

It’s a fair point, but is it realistic to think that, with all the applications, something like that would factor into an admissions decision?

Kids are in class with no phones and at sports with no phones so I’m sure it’s okay for a parent to help out with a phone call during business hours.

You must be joking.

Seriously.

You’re joking, right?

+1. Moms make the most ridiculous assertions on here because they HAVE to be argumentative. That's why they are here - to bash someone to make then feel momentarily better. Of course the kid can make the call! Do it from the college counseling office. Do it after 3:15. Do it after hours and leave a message. Do it on an obscure holiday when college admissions is open. Write an email saying "is my file complete?" but parents should never make such simple contacts

Pitt application complete 10/9, decision 10/30 (accepted)
No merit info yet.

Are you sure the high school has done what they need to do?
It was so hard for us. Even having a meeting in the Spring to warn what would be needed/when.

Pitt is now saying 6-8 weeks for a response.

I’d check college confidential for that school and see how long rolling is taking for other applicants. It is school and time-frame dependent (ie: may be shorter in August and longer in Oct or Nov).

Anonymous wrote:Whatever you do don’t call them. Rolling admission can mean whatever a school wants it to mean and in no way does it mean you demand a decision after less than a month.

Did your kid set up the portal? All the information of materials received is there. On my son's Google sheet, he doesn't fully cross a school off the list until he sets up the specific portal and sees that all information is received.

I don't think any college that has a system for checking - and I assume that they all do - will appreciate a phone call.

same.

I remember from older kid that if you submit very early in fall/late summer, you may hear back fairly quickly. But if you submit mid October or later, it will take much longer. Also, it can clearly depend on the major/college within the school.

If you apply in August, you will get a response back quickly. If you submit in the thick of the Fall with everyone else, it will take longer.
