I feel like with your neighbours you may have a better idea of how they keep house than you would with coworkers, so it's not a given that it would be better, but you would be better informed. Presumably if you're social enough with your neighbours to do potlucks, and say you're all friends, you've been to their homes and seen their cleanliness, whether they allow cats on the counter, etc. etc. whereas you probably haven't with a coworker.
