The clothing is trash. I went in once with my tween and was completely underwhelmed. Boxes everywhere, merchandise unpacked and thrown on tables. Nothing looked appealing. Really depressing actually.

Eh, I disagree. With the boxy weird cuts of some of the clothes today, I often guess wrong. Plus so many places don’t use mannequins online or in stores, and most people who aren’t in fashion or retail don’t have their eyes trained to translate a 2d, flat layout to what a garment will look like on a body in 3D.

Yup. I'm not a big person at all - size 2. But sometimes there's an odd cut like something is huge everywhere else but tight in one area like the chest and I could see ripping a shirt or dress if it's a certain fabric.
Please reassure your DD this type of thing happens to everyone and she should not be mortified. It could have just as easily happened to her smaller friends.

That store has long lines to get in every time I drive past. I don't get it. My older daughter is as skinny as they come and the clothes looked too tiny for her.

I can relate. I have broad shoulders and a broad back and a naturally big chest thanks to getting all the challenging genes from both sides of the family. I can’t forget all the close calls I had to OP’s DD’s incidents. Even when things did sort of fit, I could never just try on prom or homecoming dresses with a big group because I had to order special sizes to fit my top and alter the bottom down.

I can relate to the push-pull of knowing something won’t fit but desperately wanting to try on something instead of just awkwardly standing by. It’s a dumb fantasy but I wish there were more common ways for girls to socialize that didn’t involve shopping or phones.

That brand is quite popular with older teens. Not just younger.

But it is a good store for petite girls who swim in clothes at a lot of other places

Watch the documentary about this store. It is absolutely disgusting and anyone who continues to shop there after being educated on their practices is an idiot. They take advantage of a young girls self esteem for $$$.

I'm really sorry that your daughter went through this. I've always hated that store for that reason. Their whole one size fits all is really "you must be a tiny person to fit into our clothes."

If she knew she was too big for the clothes then she should not have been trying things on. She could have “browsed” until her friends were done and they went to a different shop.

My daughter really liked BM because everything fits her well and she likes the casual cool vibe of the clothes.

Not all the clothes in that store are great quality. You are focusing as though it could be a fit issue. It could very well have been an issue with the stitching or fabric.
