100% this. Could be hundreds of things. My son has knee and hip pain and it turns out to be hip impingement from the way his hip is built. You will never know until you see a sports orthopedist.

But I’ll also add that my cross country kid’s pain turned out to be due to improperly fitted shoes. Took him to a running store, got him new shoes after an assessment, and on his next run all pain disappeared.
