Don't stay in the Financial District, on the weekend. I made that mistake. It was like a ghost town - sort of like how K Street use to be, on the weekend.

interesting street scenes.

Some of our favorites:

Shinjuku
-Omoide Yokocho
-Golden-Gai
Shimokitazawa - "hip" neighborhood with vintage stores
Tsukiji - fish market

If you’ve never been then shut up

Ueno Park’s pretty nice, and if the weather drives you indoors while you’re there the national museum has a good collection.

Wander around Senso-Ji (temple) in Asakusa. They also have a lot of vendors, and it's not far from the Tsukiji (old Tokyo seafood market--now touristy, but still worth a visit).

You can get free English speaking tour guides all over Japan - I've done it in a bunch of places, and have really enjoyed the experience

https://www.tokyofreeguide.org/

For me - who speaks no Japanese - it was a nice way to get a local perspective and access to a bunch of things I wouldn't have seen or known about.
