OP here. How big are the rosters for U14 & U15? DD plays for a large club on the ECNL-RL team and it's impossible to crack into our club's ECNL team. She is considering trying out for FVU in the spring but if DD doesn't make that team, wondering if any RL teams get priority or looks from FVU for guest players or eventual promotion to FVU.
Let me guess you are at Arlington and you’re finally over watching kids from other clubs with similar talent get chosen over one of the RL kids.
I’m guessing you nailed it

Every team is going to games with 6-7 subs, and leaving 4-6 kids back home sitting around, because those kids can’t play with the partner ECNL-RL either, those RL teams already have 6-7 subs as well. The whole thing is a mess.
Please stop spreading blatant misinformation. On the girls’ side, the 10s and 12s have 17, and the 11s 19. Some of these players are hurt. This is not an issue for half of their teams.
What about the older teams?
Older team rosters are large, which is why I wrote it wasn’t an issue for half the girls. But that’s pretty standard for ECNL, I believe. Ie. Arlington girls roster 26 on their 06/07s, VDA roster 28, Union is 27. I assume part of that is the trapped seniors get added to the regular seniors.
Posters acting like this is a Union-specific problem seem disingenuous. Are they carrying a few extra girls at certain older ages? Yes. But I bet their average roster size across their 6 girls’ teams is within a single player of other ECNL area clubs.
In the boys side FVU has A TON of subs! Look it up in the ECNL website rosters. We’re talking about 22 or more in some of the age groups

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why would anyone want to play for Fairfax Virginia Union?
Amen.
The worst has to be McLean. 5 years ago a regional powerhouse. Now, living off table scraps…dumped by SYC last year, then a shotgun wedding to form “Union”, aka the last ragtag train to ECNL.
Shame on the clowns who turned that program into a sh*tshow.
