Anonymous wrote:what exactly is a country club kid? if it is literally a kid whose family belongs to a country club, you probably don't know that about a lot of them.
it seems like maybe a slang term to reflect a certain stereotype?

True. They are such welcoming places, friendly to all.
that's not a nice generalization. you seem to lump everyone who belongs to a country club together, and have a negative opinion of them. some of the diversity students are not always friendly to the country club kids either. the trans kids are not pals with the athletes. not everyone is going to gel with everyone else. but can't everyone just be tolerant of each other?

Of all of my 3 boys’ friends, I don’t know of a single country club family (and I doubt any of the receive financial aid).

Gonzaga has 1000 boys. The zip code from which the most boys come is 22207 (Washington Golf). There's definitely a group of families that belong to that club and other clubs. But it's absolutely not the prevailing vibe of Gonzaga. We've been there 5 years and I know that it's too big and diverse (and yes, I know this board gets on Gonzaga for not being diverse enough) to say it's anywhere close to mostly country club kids.
+1. We’re also a Gonzaga family and I agree with this. Yes, there are some families who belong to country clubs. There are many who do not. It has a diverse student body and pulls from a number of different areas.
