At best, Zimmerman is using the BoE position as a stepping stone to a career in politics. At worst, she's a workaround to giving the union a spot on the board. She doesn't have any kids the system, she won't feel the impact that of any BoE decisions would have on kids.
Both Zimmerman and Diaz are absolutely terrible candidates that don't belong anywhere near the board.
Zimmerman seems wonderful to me.
She may be a wonderful person and a wonderful teacher, but she's a terrible candidate for the board.
Sure, how awful it would be for a wonderful person and a wonderful teacher to be on the board of education.![]()

Having kids in the system is not a prerequisite to being on the board. Only one of the current members has kids in the system now. And I think working as an MCPS teacher at the present time will give Zimmerman a unique and beneficial perspective.

Agree just because masking reduces the spread by 90% when everyone does it why bother. Only a few million Americans died right? /sarcasm
We were back in school with vaccinations when that happened, just like now. She was right.
There's a smear campaign against her because she isn't part of the existing problem troop.
This is only partially true. Vaccines had only been available for the age group Diaz was teaching for three months, and vaccines were still not at all available for younger siblings at the time that Diaz was willing to just skip first period rather than wear a mask.
Abdicating her responsibility to educate the children in her care, just to avoid wearing a mask, is absolutely not the mindset we want on the Board of Education.
Kids and teens did not need vaccines, as they were not at risk. Please... you are years behind at understand the research.

The fact they keep trying to smear her record in favor of a pliable 26 year old opponent shows they are scared.
Her record is few years as an mcps teacher before quitting or being fired for not showing up to class and not following the rules during a pandemic. She homeschools her youngest. She then has a bunch of jobs including an unlicensed and regulated preschool and working for fusion which is a glorified tutoring program to help struggling students with desperate parents get a diploma.
