It depends on where you donate but SG is the lowest paying clinic.

Why are recipients morally contemptible for trying to save money while "donors" are not for trying to make money? It is a business transaction and should be regarded as such.

If you have doubts then you should not be a donor, like a pp said no one is putting a gun to your head.

Many of the recipients are in the same area, and as a donor I'm concerned about too much of my DNA being in the pool. I think you prospective parents are so focused on your goal that you lose perspective.

Not once you take into consideration: 1) that many of the receipients are not actually from the DC area; 2) we now live in a very tranisent society, so the chances of the children growing into adults and dating in this area are slim.

so if you're an egg donor you have to supply enough eggs for 3 couples? Isn't that too much of the same DNA in the dc pool?

As a 3rd in line recipient we did not get quality eggs, we get another try, but the emotional toll it's taken was hard to foresee when we signed up for shared risk.

SG has no incentive to overstim the donors, since that does not lead to good egg quality. If you regret being an egg donor, fine. But don't blame the patients who are going to SG. If anything, SG is more ethical that the private donor agencies that pay more to egg donors than the guidelines allow.

And as for all women using egg donors being "alpha women" -- I almost needed an egg donor even though I started trying to get pregnant at age 31. Although I work I'm (unfortunately) not successful or rich enough to be described as overly career focused. I just had really bad luck.

Wow, as a grad student I considered being a donor to help with my tuition but reading some of the posts by potential parents on this board makes me reconsider. The donors are under attack and it's you career focused alpha women that would probably make horrible mothers that need to think about your decisions.

Then why did you do it? You would have been well advised of the risks prior to the procedure. No one is putting a gun to your head. And the original post had nothing to do with the medical aspect of the donation process. I doubt you are the OP or a donor. You seem to be just as troll and a jerk.

I'm the OP and my intention was just to make you aware that the most cost effective way to parenthood may be putting some of us donors at risk. SG's policy of pushing donors to produce enough eggs for 3 couples is medically unsafe, I may have long term issues as a result of last cycle there.
