What about Quebec City & Montreal, no jet lag! Maybe drive over to see Niagara Falls?

Malaga Spain. Can go up into the mountains for some hiking and get your city fix.

I agree that I would fly somewhere without much of a time change. I love wandering around cities, so I'd second Buenos Aires. Also, Santiago Chile, Austin TX, NYC, and Boston.

I love Paris solo. Just bring layers.

Lisbon could also be wonderful. With a week, you could really enjoy the city and take day trips.

If you don’t have a problem with jet lag, Tokyo! I couldn’t do it for just a week, but I know others can.

If you do travel internationally, suggest staying in hotels in case the unexpected happens, such as getting mugged or getting sick. You’ll want the support.

+1. I could skip the Eiffel Tower, but Paris is one of my favorite cities to wander solo.

Time would be great. Or London or Mexico City. Hit some museum, shop, eat great food.

I might also look at Austin tours or road scholar tours—they might have some availability for a tour that you could hop onto. Disney adventure also runs some adult only tours and their itineraries always look kind of fun with lots of things like cooking classes etc, if you’re worried you’ll feel lonely.

I jsut spent 6 days in portugal alone and never had even a twinge of discomfort. walked around day and night, ate and drank myself silly, did a one-day food toor in lisbon and a day trip to the Douro from Porto. I did splurge on well-located hotels (popular neighborhoods, main streets) so I could be out in the evening and not have a creepy walk back.

I traveled a lot on my own before kids. I found that cities/towns with attractions to visit were more enjoyable alone compared to rural/beach where there is a lot of viewing the landscape/soaking up the ambiance. If you like the arts Europe is good in November because opera, theater, concerts are all in season, and tourism is down.

PP here who suggested Southern Europe. I think something like what this poster suggests would be awesome. I would love to go to Turkey or Morocco, but as a woman traveling solo, you might feel more comfortable being part of a small group tour. It might be tough to squeeze that into a week though, unless you have a little flexibility with departure and return dates.

I went to Venice, Italy for my 40th. It was a good short trip.
