I've seen many couples like this. I've seen a woman who was easily 200 lb with a tall attractive guy usually white. I think white guys are more forgiving in the looks department to women.

This is me. Burning the candle at both ends and work stress and menopause made me get overweight/. DH is naturally very thin . We were equally attractive when we got married but won’t be again unless I lose at least 30 pounds

I don't see any wives that are schlubby, but I do see lots of couples in middle age where the husband looks good and wife looks fine with some weight gain, usually is a mom. I wouldn't call that schlubby though.

I also do not know any couples like this in real life, barring things like serious illness later in life. It’s always roughly evenly matched or the wife is better looking.

They were about even when they met and then she’s got a life changing disease. I am sure some people who don’t know me and my husband well are wondering. Ditto for my best friend and her husband.

There are a lot of shlubby women out there and some have spouses who are definitely more attractive than them .

I know two couples who very clearly meet this description.

I doubt they met this description at the wedding.

I know one couple like this. She’s very, very wealthy (family money) but overweight and basic. If you saw her in the street you’d think she worked at Walmart. Her husband is very handsome and charming and seems nice. Don’t know them well enough to know what goes on behind closed doors but they’ve been together 25 years or more.
