This is what I do and if for some reason my DH says he’ll do the Costco run I just text it to him. Then I get a text back with “Costco didn’t have x or y this time” so x and y go onto the Safeway list. It works pretty well.

We use Alexa this way too.

We use alexa as well. Anyone can say outloud “alexa add eggs to the shopping list”. We have two list, another for the beach house “alexa add milk to beach list”. Then we use the alexa app when in the store to mark off what is bought

For “items I can only get at Trader Joe’s” or “look for this next time at Costco”, we have specific lists for those stores. I do check both lists for the store I’m going to so I don’t miss anything.

We do this too! And it updates when youre in the store. We use it for HD and other places (returns to stores too) and packing lists.
The rule is if its not on the list you cant be mad the person who went didnt get it.

We use Alexa, too. It's nice to be hands-free. One generic grocery list, and a couple of special lists for Trader Joe's, Target, etc.

Congrats on sharing this irrelevant detail to yet another thread, PP! I hope you feel validated.

OP, I use the Grocery IQ app. I like that I can have lists going for different stores since we buy certain things at Costco, others at Giant, Trader Joe's, Penzey's, etc.

We use the Any List app (https://www.anylist.com). Each family member has access so can add/delete items, and whoever goes to the store can pick up what we need. We've got separate lists for Giant, Whole Foods, Target, Costco etc. It updates immediately so I can add something to the list while DH is at the store if needed. We upgraded to the $14.99/year version so we can access from computers as well.

I keep pre printed paper lists of the grocery items that we typically buy each week in a drawer in the kitchen. During the week we just circle the item that we need to buy on the weekend grocery trip or add anything that is new for the week. It’s organized by store aisle.

Super annoying, but I developed two excel spreadsheets (one for summer; one for winter) with about 80% duplicates. It lists store and items, next to each other across four columns and a 5th column with lines for add-ons. I place this on the counter/in a drawer with a pen and folks can circle what is needed or write it in. The sheets are half the size of a sheet of paper, so each one gets you two lists.

I use the notes on my iPad and we have a whiteboard on the fridge that DS writes what he wants on.

+1 this is what we use too, and check off items as we add to the cart. If we need something immediately though, we just note it verbally or over text (e.g., “are you able to pick up milk on the way home?”

I add items to my instant cart as they come up. Sometimes I order from there, sometimes I stop at a store and use it as a list. If I want DH to shop, I’ll text him a list.
