My daughter has been admitted to two schools so far. She received an email notification to check the portal for the given school. For each school, she received a letter a few days later congratulating her on acceptance. Not sure if this is a common practice for all schools.

The college application process teaches a lot of great life skills. My kiddo has had a couple of interviews and an admission office meet and greet. Even these are important experiences for being more comfortable with interviewing and networking later in life.

Plus all project management and planning skills needed to stay on top of the application process.

College is what got my kid to start actually checking his email. I know a few kids who set up a college specific email account so they didn't have to weed through spam. I know some parents who check their kid's email (I wasn't going to do this...)

Everything last year came in the portal. And then for the ones they got into, he got something in the mail a few days/weeks later with stickers, socks, pins, etc. DS kept everything he was sent - even for the schools that he didn't attend.

Email is irrelevant but they do need to keep track of passwords. All the colleges preannounce when they are releasing decisions on social media.

My kid got an email saying check the portal for an update and then an email with a letter enclosed confirming the offer.
