Agree. Private sector. We recruit at specific schools and then look elsewhere if not full. We use recent grads from those schools to recruit: we currently have recruiters for Duke and 7 of the 8 ivies and Georgetown. We hire many different majors from these schools. We have had a lot of success from them so that is where we look. We hired less this year and filled all spots with recruiting at these schools

It should be "fewer" not "less".

Sorry, what world do you think that is? I work at a well known private sector co, and have come from other similar companies as have DH and my co horts. We don’t get excited over schools like maybe you’d see 20 years ago. We look at substance and well, DEI is also very important.

I will tell you honestly that there are two things that might get a resume moved to the bottom of the pile- posting your elite expensive private high school (if you are obviously UMC or above) or any mention of super elite activities. One recent applicant mentioned her yacht club activities.

Where you go is crucial for many jobs. For others not so much. It has always been this and always will be. Question is what job are you looking for and where do you want to go.

It's not even the experience, it's just having TS. Companies are not going to pay for that or wait for it if they can help it. They'd much rather hire someone already cleared and the biggest group of cleared applicants is ex military

So if someone went to a podunk regional college in the Midwest, west coast or northeast, it would hold up the same as a UMD or GW or UVA?
