We have flown IAD to Greece, Portugal and France in the last 2 years. Every time there were blankets and pillows on all the seats, but om one flight my pillow was missing (taken by a passenger?). I bring a thin sarong as an extra layer.

My personal chef, who has been with us 11 years, flies economy. I will ask them when they bring up my mid-afternoon refreshment.

Seems pretty similar to staying in a hotel.

Adding on, the blanket was too thin - we were cold. But otherwise, I found flying economy on United from Paris to Dulles to be really pleasant.

In united business class, they give you both a blanket and a little thin blanket, and a pillow.

if you’re gonna be all freaked out about germs when traveling, you should probably just stay home, germs are everywhere

Don’t know about economy, but you can probably request one.

I always carry my own blanket. The ones given out in coach are thin and scratchy and of dubious cleanliness.


Maybe take your coat onto the plane. Use it as a blanket and save some space in your luggage.

I usually travel in Middle Eastern airlines in business class, because they are ultra luxurious.

They have nice, plush, clean blankets that are very comfortable.

But, I also always have a nice alpaca wrap for my travels that can double up as a blanket if I am so inclined.

There’s so little space, skip the blanket, dress warmly in soft layers. And go into it realizing you probably won’t sleep and that’s okay, you’ll be fine.
