He tries, but he needs reminders to watch his refined carb intake, and he needs reminders to exercise. My second is in high school, and cooks some of her meals when I'm not there. I check in to make sure it's not all carbs and fruit, and that she's included some protein and veggies. She's still learning.
What do the reminders to your college son look like?
We talk every week: I ask him how his nutrition and exercise plan are going. He's honest to a fault, and I never excoriate him, so even when he tells me he hasn't been doing so well, I don't get upset. But he does have regular bloodwork to do, and his doctor will also remind him to cut down on refined carbs, eat more protein and veggies (without sweet sauce) and increase his exercise. So between the three of us, we do our best.
