Obviously, DC didn’t get the game, but I can understand why they would not have school given the amount of people who would be in the city/using the metro would be equivalent if not more than an inauguration. Anyway, I would anticipate that day being a school day when they official roll out the calendar in the spring.
But DC did get World Cup games. They will be IN DC at Audi Field. Fedex field is in Maryland so would be unlikely to impact any school operations anyway. Audi Field has a capacity of 20,000 so also unlikely to have a Metro impact. Though more fans will probably show up than that, it still doesn’t make sense that they would give a day off for it.

Pretty sure that's April 16, not June 16.
Correct it’s Juneteenth

Monday, June 15 as a school day
Tuesday, June 16 as no school for students or teachers
Wednesday, June 17 as the last day for students
Why in the world do they have a day off in the middle of the week, right before the last day?

What?! Like just more random holidays? Or more days with substitutes?
What about we fix the things that cause stress, like an overbearing Central Office and Impact rather than treat the wounds?
I’d rather not have a random day off and just be done with the year earlier.
But they truly don’t care. Apparently the opening session of the PD day on Friday included a suggestion about showing your commitment to students by working for free on Saturdays. They don’t care that there aren’t enough hours in the day to do our jobs.
DCPS is the worst district I've ever worked in. It's been two months. I've worked in MANY districts due to my husband being military. Impact is a joke. I've never worked for a district asking for so much with getting so little back in return. They wonder why there's a constant teacher shortage? There's so many districts nearby we could work in. I'd take the paycut to have a sane working environment. DC council just seems to pride itself in "no tenure=better teachers". Nah- no tenure= shortage and desperate people who need money.
